MPFoldTransition is an open source project that offers a customizable set of view transitions, including both folding and flipping. The screenshots below will give a feel for the effects:

There are a number of customizable values including the folding direction (fold or unfold), mode (normal or cubic) and orientation (vertical or horizontal).
